Student Senate Bill: S.B. 07 (F) 2
- For all Texas A&M men's basketball games, there shall be a lottery system in place for all students with sports passes wishing to attend men's basketball games at Reed Arena.
- The lottery will be weighted based on students' registrations for basketball game lotteries as follows: 1 "point" will be awarded for entering each lottery. The points correspond to the chances a student has at "winning" admission to the game, i.e., if a sfudent has 14 points, the student is entered 14 times into that lottery. Students who have purchased a sports pass with either the "all sports" or "all but football" options will automatically receive one point.
- Students shall submit themselves for the lottery by visiting a link on AggieAthletics.com and entering their sports pass number, at which point, the student will validate their e-mail address to use for correspondence on ticket allotment.
- Lotteries for each men's basketball game will open for registration immediately following the conclusion of the previous home men's basketball game. Registration for the lottery for the first home men's basketball game will open at 8 a.m. on Monday,Oct.22 (the same day as first day of pull for football vs. KU).
- Lotteries will take place at noon 2 days prior to the game. At any time prior to the lottery taking place, a student may remove his or her entry by revisiting the lottery link on AggieAthletics.com. Removing an entry prior to the lottery will remove the possible one point for entering. ln other words, neither a penalty nor gain would be assed to the student.
- Students will be notified by e-mail. Students may also always check AggieAthletics.com ticket lottery site with their sports pass number to find out whether they won admission or not.
- Students will have until noon the day prior to the game to accept or decline their admission. In order to discourage students from entering lotteries for which they know they will not attend a game, thereby simply entering to increase their point totals, anyone "winning" admission but declining that admission during the 24-hour period shall be assessed a "minus 2" point penalty, resulting in a "net -1.".
- No tickets will be issued for student general admission seating. The student's University ID will be scanned at the point of entry at Reed Arena. Students who "won" admission in the lottery will show as "valid" admissions, while those who did not "win" will not be "valid" for that game.
- In order to avoid a situation where students register for the lottery, win tickets and fail to attend the event, thus leaving the student section unfilled and in effect denying other students who wanted to go but did not "win" the lottery admission, a demerit system will be put in place as follows: 3 points will be deducted from the students point total. This would result in a "net -2" on the student's point total (1 point for entering the lottery and accepting the admission minus 3 points for failing to attend).
- Should a student become unable to attend an event for which he or she has won and accepted admission, that student may loan their sports card to a fellow student, who would then need to scan both his or her personal student ID (thus proving they are a Texas A&M student) as well as the"winning" student's loaned sports pass (thus showing a "valid" winning sports card for that game).
In summary:
- +1 point for students who register, are NOT selected, but admitted as a walk-up (space permitting).
- +1 point for students who register, are NOT selected, and don't attend as walk-up.
